This is a detailed design that will give you hours of embroidery pleasure. The room's many elements offer up opportunities to render pattern and texture with ten classic hand-embroidery stitches. It's a mix of geometric and organic lines. The finished project has a strong color story of gray, blue and mustard. The motifs are those of home and retreat with an interesting foliage flip: the green leaves are inside while those outside are golden.

THIS HOOP'S STORY

You’ll be spending hours stitching this room--time enough to consider the personal choices that bring pattern, motif and color together in a home. This room has a strong blue-gray and mustard color scheme with the greenery brought inside while gilded boughs crowd the window from the outside. Framed motifs also bring the outside in, yet the carpet and wallpaper have strong geometric and ordered lines. Enjoy both the juxtapositions and the harmonies here.

FAQs

Can I do this if I've never embroidered?

Yes. All the instructions you'll need are included. If you've never handled a needle and thread, it might take a while to get comfortable. Take your time, keep your thread length under 18", and just be sure you're not tangling things and that you're pulling the thread all the way through. Once you've got this rhythm established with simple straight stitches, you can keep adding to the stitches you've mastered. The stitching guides actually tell you which stitches to start with on a design if you're new to embroidery.

What can I do with my finished project?

You can finish it in the hoop and hang it or get a frame with a circular cutout and glass cover. My favorite thing to do is to finish the design in a nicer hoop and then display on plate stand or small easel. I add it to styled vignettes around my house.

Will the printed pattern wash out?

No. You may wash your finished project but the printed design will not wash away.

What's the difference between kits and fabric prints?

The kits include not only the fabric print but also floss, needles, a storage tin, and hoop. The fabric prints include just the fabric print and the stitching guide. You will need to supply hoop, needles, and floss.

Love it!

Good quality fabric and detailed instructions. What I like about the Stitched Stories Patterns is the use of a variety of stitches, which is very refreshing. No long hours of doing just one or two kind of stitches to finish a pattern. I couldn’t stop raving about the design to my husband and he surprised me with another Stitched Stories pre-printed fabric pattern just today!

What I Needed

I bought this as a gift for my wife. I received the shipping notification about a day later and the pattern arrived in plenty of time for Christmas. It was the pattern I ordered and packaged securely to prevent untimely damage.
